Watching It | TrevsChan2 on YouTube

Since I started posting my reaction videos for The Walking Dead on YouTube, I’ve been watching other reaction and review videos for TWD on YouTube.

I found someone that I really like and that is Trev from TrevsChan2. He isn’t afraid to give his opinion, pays attention to the fan community and doesn’t take himself too seriously. He has video reviews all the way back to Season 1 of The Walking Dead along with a ton of other videos about the show. He posts videos almost every day, even times like right now when we aren’t seeing new episodes of the show weekly.

If you like The Walking Dead, you should check him out! Here are some videos from his channel I enjoyed recently.

Frivolous Wants | Birthday Edition

Tomorrow is my birthday! These are the things I would buy myself if I had a ton of money to spare and was able to buy myself presents.

Ninja_Coffee_Bar

Mom just bought this coffee bar and it is the coolest. It makes your regular old coffee in a mug, travel mug or carafe, then it can also do over-ice and ‘specialty brew’, which is something like espresso for making fancy coffee drinks. I’ve used it and it’s awesome. From Ninja.

Soundhole Pickup

I have a pickup for my guitar, but recording with it is a nightmare. I have a tiny little mixing board, so I could be doing super cool stuff, but my current pickup is a mess and has something wrong with it. I need a new one so I can record better quality covers. From Guitar Center.

we_are_the_walking_dead_tshirt_from_hot_topic

I currently have two TWD t-shirts – one is a bit snug on me and the other is I think a big & tall 3X. I’m in need of one that fits properly. From Hot Topic.

hogwarts alumni t-shirt.jpg

I have always wanted a Hogwarts Alumni t-shirt but have never gotten one. From Hot Topic.

macbook

I have always wanted to rock a Macbook. From Apple.

Teapot

I’ve been shopping for a fun vintage teapot for a while and haven’t found one. But I do like this new simple white one. From Target.

seratonin necklace

I favorited this Serotonin molecule necklace a long time ago on Etsy. From Exaltation.

combat boots from target

My current pair of combat boots are falling apart. I like these, and they’re cheap. I might actually get these. From Target.

2016 planner from target

I’m going to need a new planner for my blog in a month. This one is cute. From Target.

As usual, clicking on any links will not make me any monies, I just like to share. Although, hey Target, you should totally sponsor my blog.

The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 8 Review “Start to Finish” | SPOILERS

I was not the most pleased with this episode when it ended. I’m not sure why, maybe because it left us on a cliffhanger. But I guess that actually makes it a really great mid-season finale. And now that some time has passed since I initially started this post, I’m appreciating the episode more and more.

Let’s go over some things though.

Morgan and Carol: Finally, this happened. Of course I’m on Team Carol, I think she was right to want to kill the wolf man. Their fight scene was super nerve wracking. I’m really worried about Carol with her probably now double concussion.

Denise & The Wolf. Okay, first off, it was so super frustrating that Tara headshot like twelve walkers in the last episode while hanging over a wall and then acted like she couldn’t shoot one human man in the head while standing still. Seriously, you shoot walkers in the head ALL THE TIME. They should have just shot him! Especially Tara, who is such good friends with Denise now. I was so mad when they just handed over their guns. And what’s Denise’s fate now? Probably she’s going to get pushed into the walkers by the wolf and get eaten. Tara is turning into Beth when it comes to relationships. I really don’t see how Denise is going to get out of this alive.

Carl & Ron: Another nerve wracking fight scene. But I loved how Carl played it, just taking Ron’s gun and telling him to calm the hell down.

The Cold Open & The End: I suspected Sam was going to die when the cold open was of him and then he had that Nicholas-esque moment of anxiety. Then he started talking at the end and I was positive he was a goner. And then the credits rolled. I was so mad about both the cold open (I don’t care about CGI ants!) and the end (how is it over!?). But I guess it does mean it’s going to be a badass Episode 9.

Deanna. Loved the scare of her being at Judith’s crib and I liked all the things she had to say, especially to Michonne. I also liked that she told us what she meant in the earlier episode when she told Rick ‘wrong answer’ about why he saved Spencer. I hope that this happening to Deanna will put Rick into a position where he does treat the whole town and all the Alexandrians like their his own, taking care of the others and not just his group.

Guts. I was so in a panic when Rick said ‘We need two of them’ because I knew exactly what was going to happen because of  the comic and because of spoilers. And I had read that the spoiler was actually debunked, so I expected things to go a different way. I was really surprised when it happened, them covering themselves in guts and leaving, but it also made sense because the spoiler being debunked was right, it didn’t happen in this episode after all. It will happen in the next. So much to look forward to!

What’s Going To Happen:

Go read the spoilers if you want to know about how things will go down with Rick & the gang in their gut-cloaks. I won’t talk about that. I think Daryl & the gang will give up their things to Negan’s group, but will make it back to Alexandria. Maybe they’ll meet Jesus along the way. Denise is not going to get killed, fingers crossed. We’ll hopefully see what’s going on with some of the other Alexandrians we didn’t see this episode, like Heath, Spencer and Tobin.

My Mid-Season Finale Rankings:

  1. Too Far Gone, Season 4 (Hershel!)
  2. Coda, Season 5 (I loved Beth, this one was heartbreaking to me.)
  3. Pretty Much Dead Already, Season 2 (Sophia!)
  4. Start To Finish, Season 6 (Cliffhanger! What!?)
  5. Made To Suffer, Season 3 (I barely even remember this episode.)

Okay, that’s all I have to say about this episode. Comment if you watched and have any thoughts about what went down and what we have in store.

Bonus: My live video reaction of this episode is posted below.

Sounds of Sunday | Carl Poppa

Today I’m sharing something a little different. It’s still music, but it’s much more hilarious than anything I’ve posted before. In honor of tonight’s mid-season finale of The Waliking Dead, today’s song is Bad Lip Reading’s Carl Poppa. If you haven’t watched any Bad Lip Reading videos before, I highly recommend them. Some of my favorites are More Walking (and Talking) Dead Part 1 and The Hunger Games.

Carl’s Chocolate Pudding Pie Recipe

There is a memorable scene in The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 9 where Carl sits on a rooftop and eats a giant can of pudding. So what better addition to our Walking Deadsgiving today than a chocolate pudding pie?

pudding-walking-dead.jpg

This recipe, like my pecan pie recipe, was adapted from the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. Giant can of pudding not needed.

DSC_0046

The ingredients include sugar, milk (or half and half), corn starch, unsweetened chocolate, butter, vanilla extract and eggs, which I forgot to put in the picture. I always leave something out. And by the way, get everything measured and ready before you start so you won’t be rushing around like I was, separating eggs from their yolks and chopping up chocolate while trying to stir your filling on the stove.

DSC_0048

You start off just mixing together the sugar and cornstarch, which lets off lots of cornstarch dust while you’re stirring. Fun.

DSC_0049

Now add in the milk and get to cooking. I waited until it was starting to thicken before I added the chocolate. This step takes some patience and a lot of stirring. Be sure to stir though, otherwise it’s going to stick to the bottom and not thicken right. Then once it has thickened, you want to  reduce heat and cook another two minutes.

DSC_0052

Next up, the eggs. You want to beat the egg yolks a little, then pour a cup of the filling into the eggs. Mix that up and pour it back into the pot of filling. I don’t know why exactly, but I imagine it has something to do with not wanting to end up with chocolate egg drop soup.

DSC_0053

Bring the mixture up to a gentle boil, then like before, turn the heat down and cook another two minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla.

DSC_0054

Pour the filling into your pie crust, which will hopefully be a lot prettier than mine ended up. Let it cool on the counter for about an hour, then put it in the fridge to chill. You want to make this plenty in advance of when you want to eat it because it needs to chill for at least 3 hours.

DSC_0061.JPG

Next up, whipped cream! Making it is super easy, you just beat together sugar, vanilla and heavy whipping cream until, well, it looks like whipped cream. Technically, that’s until stiff peaks form. Obviously, you could also just buy whipped cream. And by the way, you will have a ton more than this, pictured is actually just what I had left over because I forgot to take a photo of it earlier.

DSC_0063DSC_0064DSC_0066

And that’s all there is to it! Once you have the whipped cream on, chill and enjoy!

  1. Prep your single pie crust by baking it according to recipe/directions.

  3. Cook and stir over medium high heat until thick and bubbly, then reduce heat. Cook and stir for two minutes more. Remove from heat.

The Walking Dead S6 E7 “Heads Up” Review | SPOILERS

Don’t read ahead if you don’t want to be spoiled with things leading up to this episode, this episode, the comic book, and potentially next week’s mid-season finale.

You have been warned.

Glenn. First off, we get a reunion with Glenn right off the bat! How cool was that? That time on the blog I said very cryptically I thought that thing we thought happened didn’t happen the way we thought it happened? Yeah, that was me talking about Glenn. Although I, like many other people, didn’t think he would be able to fit under a dumpster. But apparently he can, and he did, and he made it out alive! It was really nice that even though Glenn had started becoming something of a moral compass for the show last season, he didn’t have to die because of it. As they said on Talking Dead, sometimes the nice guy can survive.

Enid. Also a reunion with Enid. I didn’t think that would happen, I had forgotten all about her honestly. Glad to see she’s eating something other than turtles this go round. And while we’re on the topic of Enid, I don’t understand why people think she’s with another group. We saw her Just Surviving Somehow out on her own, then saw her show up at Alexandria looking just as downtrodden and turtle-blood-covered as we’d seen her when she was out by herself. So if she’d been with a group, wouldn’t she have at least cleaned up a little before she went strolling into Alexandria?

Daryl, Abraham and Sasha. I thought Glenn would meet up with them although that still looks like it will happen if they make it back to Alexandria in their big fun gas truck. Mom thinks they’re going to blow up the gas truck to cause an explosion to lure the walkers away. Something big will have to happen for them to be able to help, because there are a damn lot of walkers in Alexandria.

And speaking of the walkers in Alexandria. We got the hint right away that the watch tower was going to fall and knock down the wall, and I guessed correctly that it would happen at the end of the episode. Now, if we go by what happens in the comic books and what I’ve read on some sites, Carl is going to get shot in the eye and Jessie is going to die and also get her arm cut off by Rick. Just throwing that out there.

The Carl and Ron saga continues. Can I just say really quickly their shoving match a while back was really great? It seemed surprising at first but then made total sense. Carl has killed people and fought off walkers, but he’s never had to just fight another person. But on to Ron getting those bullets and walking creepily behind Carl. Since Carl will likely get shot in the face, I think it is a good chance that a stray bullet from Ron, who just learned to shoot, could be what does it. I’m curious, though, how they could possibly make it make sense that he gets shot in the eye and it doesn’t kill him. It’s far-fetched enough in the comics, but in a tv show where they try really hard to be realistic (as realistic as you can be in a show about zombies), I think it’s going to be a tough sell. So I’m really curious to see if they’re going to try it and if so, how they’re going to make it believable.

Olivia. We couldn’t remember who she was when Enid said she had been staying with her. lol. It took a sec but we figured out she’s the woman that runs the armory/pantry.

What’s coming:

Someone’s gotta die. I think Jessie and Sam, from what I’ve read, but I could be wrong and it could go a totally different way.

Okay, that’s all I’ve got for this go round. Comment and let me know your thoughts on this week’s episode and what’s in store for next week!

The Walking Dead S6 E6 Review “Always Accountable” | SPOILERS

Coming up: comic book and tv show spoilers. If you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t read on.

Featured image from latintimes.com.

Not having cable at my house is the coolest thing that could have happened to me, and not just because I don’t watch hours of CNBC’s prison shows anymore. It’s because now, every Sunday night I have a Walking Dead date with my mom!

Tonight we talked a lot about the episode and about what we think is going to happen upcoming. I thought I’d share some of our thoughts.

On The Voice On The Walkie. First off, the end of the episode. I definitely just thought it was Rick on the walkie talkie, no big deal, until Mom was like “Oh, that was Glenn,” and I said, “Say what!?” and she rewound it twice. lol. It was nearly impossible to tell, but she said until she finds out otherwise, she’s positive it was Glenn. And it does make the most sense. Rick would have said more than just help, and I think, knowing what I know about the new group from the comics, they aren’t the type to cry out for help to get people to come to them. It’s just not their style. But we do know, from what Rick said to Jessie, that he is hoping for Sasha, Abraham and Daryl to come back to Alexandria and lead the walkers away, so I think it still could be Rick as well.

On Sasha & Abraham. Also comic book stuff, I’m pretty sure Rosita and Abraham’s relationship gets a little bit tricky when Abraham starts getting with another woman. And it really did seem like Sasha was considering Abraham’s proposal when she looked away from him after his not so subtle come on. But I think it will take a long time before Sasha and Abraham are back in the safety of Alexandria and in a place where she could take him up on the offer. I don’t think they’re going to be scrambling around fighting walkers and stop for a kiss. Also, did anyone else notice Sasha stopped wearing Bob’s jacket? #SonequaHadHerBaby.

Daryl and the Insulin. Totally cool that he took it back to them, right? Totally lame that the girl died anyway. #LookAtTheFlowers

On The New Group. They weren’t wolves, no W’s and they had guns, so comic book fans unite, it’s definitely Negan’s group. I know because one of the guys said, “he likes his ass to be willing.” Negan has something of a harem of women, that’s their ‘payment’ for being part of his group. So that’s what that was about.

On The Pacing. I feel like this will be an episode that, even though everyone on Twitter is saying it was just a filler, will be really important to us once we learn more about this new group. All of the stuff these new folks were saying that just seemed weird and cryptic is going to make complete sense.

On Abraham’s Weird Language. It just bugs me. He’s like an odd cartoon to me.

What’s Coming:

I think we’ll get a Glenn reunion either in the last episode of this half season or the first of the next. I think it will be with Sasha, Abraham and Daryl and I don’t think they’ll make it back to Alexandria for a while. I don’t think Morgan will get exiled next episode, that is just too far out there, even for New Rick. He hasn’t done anything that wrong. I think he might die though. He’s too much of a moral compass. I don’t think it will be until next half season though. But someone has to die, it’s what they do, either in the second to last episode or last episode of each half season. And we have a mystery guest on Talking Dead next week, which ultimately could mean a show death. Something kind of makes me think Tara, I don’t know why, but it’s just a weird feeling I have. Mom thinks it could be Deanna, and I think that could be the case knowing what I know about the comics, and also, since we saw so much of her journey in the last episode.

I like charts, so I’ve compiled a list of second to last or last episode deaths in all the seasons just because I want to prove my point about how the show rolls. Here it is:

  • Season 1: Second to last episode: Jim. Last episode: Jacqui.
  • Season 2a: Last episode: Sophia
  • Season 2b: Second to last episode: Shane. Last episode: Patricia and Jimmy.
  • Season 3a: None! Unless you count Penny in the last episode. But I don’t really.
  • Season 3b: Second to last episode: Merle. Last episode: Andrea.
  • Season 4a: Second to last episode: Hershel. Last episode: The Governor.
  • Season 4b: Second to last episode: Mika and Lizzie.
  • Season 5a: Last episode: Beth
  • Season 5b: Second to last: Noah. Last episode: Reg and Pete.
  • Season 6a: ???

Note: that’s 6/9 second to last eps and 7/9 last eps, so pretty good odds they’re going to keep at it, I think.

Okay, I think that’s all I’ve got. If the episodes keep at the pace we’re at, we have a great two weeks ahead of us I think!

Don’t forget to be awesome,

Carly
